Making a long story short: Profhilo improves skin quality, and who on earth doesn’t want to have more glowing skin?

Profhilo is what’s known as a ‘skin booster’ and has quickly become one of the most popular skin boosters on the market and at Tu Aesthetica. Why? Because Profhilo is an excellent option if your priorities are to smooth skin texture, minimise fine lines, and achieve a radiant complexion.
Profhilo has one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid on the market and it is used for effective skin remodelling and treating skin laxity, and can have the effect of softening and filling lines and wrinkles.
The popular skin booster promotes skin bio-remodelling and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which improve skin quality. It is therefore considered to be an injectable moisturiser by hydrating and improving skin quality and a ‘true breakthrough’ in anti-ageing treatments.

Profhilo has the advantage over our other skin boosters of needing just two treatments to give its full effect, with a recommendation that these are performed one month apart. Profhilo is of particular benefit around the cheeks and lower face, although it has little effect over the forehead. If your forehead is an area of concern we recommend looking at our other skin boosters, although this can be discussed in detail at consultation with your aesthetic doctor. It can also be used over your neck, decolletage and hands.

So, whats the difference between dermal filler and Profhilo?

Dermal fillers are used to shape and contour features like the nose and jaw; fill lines and wrinkles; and add volume to the lips or hollow areas, like around the eyes and cheekbones.
Profhilo has more of a rejuvenating effect. This is because the hyaluronic acid in the injections draws water deep into the skin to moisturise from the inside out, plumping the skin while enhancing radiance. In this way, it’s better to think of Profhilo as being more of a serum than an injectable.

How does treatment compare?

With dermal fillers, you may only target one area of the skin. However, Profhilo focuses on more holistic results by targeting several areas, often with around 5 injections. The two treatments can also be used together.

Which treatment is better?
The treatments work in different ways. You might prefer Profhilo’s hydrating quality that plumps, smooths and glows as it goes. But on the other hand, dermal fillers can also enhance an aged appearance by refining wrinkles and reversing sagging skin.

Which treatment lasts longer?
When it comes to longevity, expect dermal fillers to last a little longer – perhaps up to 18 months. Profhilo, on the other hand, typically lasts 9-12 months. That’s because it’s a purer form of hyaluronic acid, and can be more quickly metabolised by the body.

What else do I need to know?
For a quick recap, remember:
 Profhilo is effective for hydrating and replenishing the skin, adding radiance
Profhilo is typically used on the face but can be used in other areas such as the neck
Dermal fillers can achieve more dramatic results – like shaping the facial profile
